What we back up
On-premises servers
Your servers stay on-site, their backups go to Azure. A copy outside your walls, without buying new hardware.
Azure workloads and VMs
Virtual machines, databases and services already hosted on Azure, backed up with their own rules.
Files and shares
File servers and network shares, with file-by-file restore when a user deletes the wrong thing.
Retention policies
How long to keep what: daily, monthly, yearly. Defined with you based on your obligations and usage.
LRS, ZRS or GRS: redundancy based on the need.
Not all data needs the same level of protection. We choose the storage option based on criticality and budget, after the audit.
LRS
Copies within the same data center. Sufficient for many routine backups.
ZRS
Copies spread across several zones of the same region, to withstand the loss of a data center.
GRS
A copy in a second, distant region, when continuity requires it.
